Case History
Mariya Pankova faced criminal prosecution for her faith back in October 2021. Then the house of her and her husband, Sergey Tolokonnikov, was searched, as a result of which the man ended up in a pre-trial detention center and later was sentenced to 5 years in a penal colony. In April 2025, when Sergey was 2 months away from his release, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Mariya, also under an extremist article. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs took Mariya for interrogation, and a search was conducted in her apartment. A recognizance agreement was taken from the woman. The case went to court in June 2025. Five months later, the sentence was handed down: a fine of 500,000 rubles
